Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stay and watch a class?New families are welcome to stay and watch for the first class. At all other times we ask parents to leave the class as experience over the years has taught us that the children learn better in a teacher and student only environment.
Can I get a discount on classes? We offer a 10% discount to families with two or more children attending classes. We also have an active dancers league which encourages families to walk, cycle or share a ride with others to class. Each term the winning class receives a 50% reduction on fees for the next term.
I can't see the dance style I want to take on the programme? Please call us on 021 255 6156. We are always willing to offer other classes where there is sufficient interest.
I'm not sure which class is best for my child? It is important that your child is in a class that suits their ability. The ages given for each class are indicative only and assume no prior dance experience. In some instances children may be outside the age group specified due to previous dance experience or natural ability in a subject. Please talk to us and if you have danced before please let us know what level / grade you have acheived in a subject and with which dancing organisation.
What should my child wear to class? If your child does not have a leotard and tights then for their 1st term children may wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement e.g. leggings and a tshirt. Jeans or other tight fitting trousers are not suitable as are any clothing with studs. Jewellery must be kept to a minimum and is not permitted for examinations or performances.
What qualifications do the teachers have?Michelle is a registered teacher with the British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA). She gained her teaching qualification in 2003. She has worked as an assistant teacher for over 10 years. She has run her own dance school since 2000 (6 years in the UK). The BTDA requires ongoing training of all its teachers with an reapplication of teaching status every 3 years. The BTDA requires teachers to attend regular technicon to familiarise themselves with changes to the syllabus and to regularly enter students for graded examinations with satisfactory results in all disciplines. |
